It’s a sad time in the country music world, as a hitmaker Jacques Flint died November 26, hours after marrying his wife, Brenda Flint. The late musician was best known for his songs ‘Fireline’, Cowtown’ and ‘Hurry up and Wait’. Jake was born in 1985 which made him around 37 at the time of his death. Below are five things to know about Jake and his life that ended too soon.
1. Jake Flint had just gotten married
Tragically, the night he died was also the day Jake got married, according to american weekly. His wife, Brenda, and the singer exchanged vows on a remote farm on November 26, 2022, just hours before his death. His friend and fellow musician, Mike Guest recalled the events of the wedding with The Oklahman. “It was raining, but he had rented a 40 x 60 circus tent. … They spread a bunch of mats on the mud, then took two three and a quarter inch pieces of plywood and laid them on the ground – and there was my scene,” Mike said at the time. “Jake says, ‘Are you going to be okay?’ And I’m like, ‘Jake, that’s perfect.’ A piece of plywood or a flatbed trailer is where I shine.
The singer later told the outlet how “fun” the wedding was. “I still have mud in my old van…but it was just a fun wedding. And it’s just a tragedy what happened,” concluded Mike. Jake’s publicist, Cliff Doial, confirmed the news of his death to the local outlet. He is believed to have died in his sleep, however, no official cause of death has been released.
2. His wife, Brenda, mourned him on social media
On November 29, 2022, just days after Jake’s sudden passing, Brenda took to her Facebook page to mourn her husband. “We should go through the wedding photos but instead I have to pick out the clothes to bury my husband,” the widow wrote. “People shouldn’t be in so much pain. My heart is gone and I really need it back. I can not stand it anymore. I need him here.
And just a day before, she shared a photo from the wedding on Facebook. The bittersweet snapshot showed Brenda and Jake kissing passionately, with a white border. Notably, Brenda didn’t put a caption on the photo. Jake has frequently posted about Brenda on his Instagram account and even announced their engagement via Instagram in January 2022. “So. We did one thing. Say hello to the future Mr. Brenda Wilson. #gettinhitched See you at Cain’s Ballroom in a few months. Book the date to be defined. @cocoaborocoa,” she captioned the sweet photo.
3. Jake had over 700 subscribers on YouTube
In addition to his personal love life with Brenda, Jake has had a growing music career. His YouTube account has over 728 subscribers and some of his videos even have over 76,000 views. In the comments section of his video for the song “What’s Your Name,” many of his fans mourned Jake. “This guy was one hell of a gamer!! RIP,” one fan wrote, while another chimed in, “Sending strength prayers for his wife Brenda. I’m so sorry for your loss.”
4. He was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma
Jake was originally from Oklahoma, as he was born in the city of Holdenville. Many people remember him as a good person who loved music. Mike also said Oklahoma about how his personality was larger than life. “He was a songwriter, through and through, and just a big personality and a big heart and [he’d] bend over backwards to do anything for you. When a musician asks you to play at their wedding, it’s one of those milestone days… and it’s always an honor,” he said of his late friend.
5. Jake was a proud dog dad
There was also a soft side to Jake, which he showed via Instagram when he posted about his adorable dog. Brenda and Jake shared a large mastiff dog named Birdie, who loves to sit on Brenda’s lap. She “she doesn’t know she’s beautiful. And she doesn’t know she’s not a dog. I hope she’s comfortable with her because she’s been sawing logs and not going anywhere for at least 25 minutes. #mastiff #arlo #boyfriend,” she captioned the adorable snap. And in an even sillier post, Birdie was seen drooling over Brenda’s plate on Dec. 1, 2021. “Find someone who looks at you like Princess Birdie looks at a plate of Mexican food,” Jake wrote on this photo.
