Ukraine: two priests kidnapped – Vatican News

Two priests, members of the Redemptorist congregation, Ivan Levitsky and Bohdan Helet, were kidnapped and arrested by the Russian army in Berdyansk, in southeastern Ukraine.

Both are accused of planning a terrorist attack. According to the bishop of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic exarchate of Donetsk, Stepan Menyok, the arrest of the priests is unjustified and illegal, and they are accused of fabricated insults. Priests Levitskis and Heleta have been serving in Berdyansk for more than 3 years and are preaching the message of peace to everyone in their congregations – Bishop Meņoks announced. The Exarchate of Donetsk calls for the immediate release of the priests.
