The fate of the head of the “Diamond Arm” will eclipse any series

Fate and career could have turned out differently.

The billionaire boss of The Diamond Arm appeared in only a few scenes in the film. However, this small but key to the plot role made actor Nikolai Romanov very popular in the USSR. But few people know how difficult the fate of a talented artist was.

Romanov began his film career with silent films. However, in the 1930s he had to go underground. The reason for this was an anonymous denunciation of the actor, after which he was convicted and sent to build the White Sea Canal.

In 1935 Romanov returned home, having been released early, but there was no question of returning to his former life. Due to the fact that he was deprived of the right to live in large cities of the USSR, the artist had to wander around the provinces. Finally, in 1961, Nikolai Romanov was allowed to act in films. He returned to the capital and set to work. However, the actor was given only episodes, from which he never refused to shoot.

After the Romanov “diamond hand” became recognizable throughout the Union, and Chef’s quotes went to the people. But then the artist was already 60, so there was no need to talk about career prospects, and they still invited him to inconspicuous roles.

In the late 1980s, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Nikolai Romanov died in 1991 from pneumonia.
