A 34-year-old man from Capelle aan den IJssel confessed that he had recently had hundreds of car tires punctured in his hometown and in the Krimpenerwaard. More than 250 statements were made. The man was arrested in Krimpen aan de Lek on Friday evening after a tip from a local resident.
The man was brought in today and will be held for another fourteen days. His motive is still under investigation.
The tire tip held the environment in its grip for more than a week. The man started his actions in the Krimpenerwaard and in the Krimpen aan de Lek, after which he set his sights on Capelle aan den IJssel, writes Rijnmond broadcaster.
It mostly hit at night. In the morning, the victims were confronted with their wrecked cars:

Mayor Oskam reacted with relief to the man’s arrest this weekend. “This situation was not to last any longer. It caused a lot of fear, insecurity and annoyance to people, with high costs due to the destruction of car and scooter tyres”.
Last Thursday, the mayor designated four neighborhoods as risk areas, so the police were able to carry out preventive searches in two evenings and two nights.
The mayor calls on people who have recently become victims of the tire spike to report the incident.
