Lower energy prices are causing inflation to drop significantly for the first time in a long time

After last month’s “shocking” 12.27%, inflation moderates in November to a (still strong) 10.63%. This can be seen from the data of Statbel, the statistical service of the Federal Public Service Economy. Even if the figure is still high, it seems to be the first tentative node of the rapid increase in the cost of living in Belgium. To be clear, that doesn’t mean our lives have suddenly gotten cheaper — it’s just getting more expensive a little less rapidly than it was last month. This is mainly due to the sharp drop in the price of gas, after the peak at the end of August, and in the price of electricity.
