Wyve was born from the imagination of two passionate engineers…
Wyve was born from the imagination of two engineers passionate about surfing, Sylvain Fleury, an engineer graduated from the Ecole Centrale de Lyon, and Léo Bouffier, an engineer from the National School of Advanced Techniques of the Paris Polytechnic. In their micro-factory, near Olatu Leku, they have developed the production, using 3D printers and spools of plastic threads of biological origin, obtained from corn starch, of very efficient and less fragile honeycomb boards classics.
They designed their process within the Izarbel technopole of the Estia engineering school in Bidart, then moved on to the manufacturing phase by settling in Anglet. They sold their first boards quickly and kept R&D as a priority.
Performance for professionals
A year after their arrival on avenue de l’Adour, Sylvain Fleury and Léo Bouffier managed to raise 1 million euros in funds from companies specializing in sporting goods, to help them accelerate their development.
After proving the reliability and performance of their first boards, they now want to enter the world of racing. One of their assets is the ability to create custom tabs by integrating many parameters. Sylvain Fleury was recently in the United States, at the Boardroom Show, in Del Mar, California, to present the Wyve boards.
The young company is in the process of expansion. It will soon have a second workshop, still in the same sector, to be able to install other 3D printers and thus have storage space for the spools of thread. But above all it remains faithful to its primary objective: “To maximize performance while minimizing the impact on the environment. »
