FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp, has just inaugurated its new sorting capabilities at its Columérin site, construction of which was completed last year. Over the past few months, 140 employees have been working in one of the two factories in Toulouse, with the Blagnac site modernized for a total investment of 12 million euros. “FedEx has been present in Occitania for almost twenty years and these investments demonstrate the key role that the region plays in the development of our national network. It is also testimony to a renewed commitment that we must contribute positively to the attractiveness and dynamism of the territory” acknowledges Mathilde Goffard, vice president of ground operations for FedEx Express in France.
The site, covering 9,000m2, hosts regional marshalling operations and provides road links to as many as 40 stations and three road junctions in France. To process the 45,000 parcels collected daily in the region, Columérine’s teams rely on a new, modern sorting system capable of processing up to 5,500 parcels per hour. An organization that will make it possible to respond optimally to the volumes expected for the end-of-year holiday period, the peak of activity for the sector. A strategic location for the company in Colomiers, a stone’s throw from Toulouse Blagnac airport, which “will allow local companies to easily connect to national and international markets thanks to easy access to road and air networks”.
