Severe storms in East Germany – farmers should be careful here

Today (July 1) the German weather service warns of bad weather in the eastern half of Germany. Meteorologists predict “heavy rains in patches of up to 25 liters per square meter in a short time”.

According to the DWD, “especially from Eastern Saxony to Western Pomerania, there is an increased risk of severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall of up to 40 liters per square metre, larger hail and strong wind gusts of up to 100 km/h”. In the afternoon, new thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail and thunderstorms are expected over south-eastern Bavaria.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected in an easterly direction in the late evening. Farmers in affected areas should therefore dry their equipment and machines in good time.
