MORELIA, Michigan, November 27, 2022.- From November 28 to December 9, vaccination against the human papilloma virus (HPV) begins in Michoacán, aimed at school-age girls, where 85,000 doses will be applied.
According to a press release, the organic will be applied to all girls attending first and second grade secondary school; as well as out-of-school 13 and 14-year-olds, who will receive a dose.
In addition, 3 doses will be applied to cis and transgender women ages 11 to 49 living with HIV; the second at 2 months and the third at 6 months.
It should be noted that the vaccine is highly safe, as its effectiveness has been periodically reviewed and monitored since its marketing was authorized in 2006 and its application in Michoacán in 2010.
Hence the importance of continuing HPV vaccination as it reduces the risk of getting cervical cancer.
In Mexico, the most frequently reported types of Human Papilloma Virus, in association with cervical cancer, are 16 and 18, of which the vaccine that is applied free of charge in the SSM protects.
