DUBAI, November 27, WAM/ The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ahmed Al Mahmoud Group, which specializes in providing therapeutic veterinary services, to strengthen cooperation in the field of developing extension programs and awareness for veterinary medicine, graduate training and exchange of experience.

The signing of the memorandum is part of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment’s efforts to improve private sector participation in efforts to protect public health and support food security.

His Excellency Ing. Mohammed Al-Amiri, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Food Diversity Sector, said that ensuring public health is one of the strategic priorities that the Ministry wishes to promote and animal health is one of the main pillars of the public health system, therefore the Ministry, in addition to its legislative and control role, works to increase the skills of operational managers in the field of veterinary medicine in line with the highest international standards.

He added: “The memorandum of understanding with the Al-Mahmoud group is part of the ministry’s strategy to enhance private sector involvement to help achieve state directives and objectives.”

According to the memorandum, the two sides will cooperate in the development of outreach, education and awareness programs on veterinary legislation and standards, training of graduate veterinary doctors and technicians, and mutual participation in activities related to outreach and training programs, as well as the exchange of expertise and technical advice.

Al-Mahmoud Group provides training programs to increase the efficiency of recent graduates of veterinary medicine and auxiliary veterinary medical professions in order to sharpen their practical skills. It will also appoint a number of national veterinary cadres trained after completing the necessary training period .

While the Ministry is committed to providing the necessary technical support regarding the legislation for the exercise of the profession of veterinary surgeon and veterinary activity, and to coordinate with the academic bodies to facilitate the training process and develop the curricula for teaching veterinary medicine and veterinary sciences.
