Attempts to fool Tesla’s systems are known, especially when it comes to autonomous driving. There is no shortage of videos on the Internet showing drivers sleeping or simply driving without touching the steering wheel.
Of course, the scenarios are incorrect and also violate brand principles. To eliminate the situations, Tesla now has an update that permanently eliminates the very dangerous cheats.
Tesla wants to end all gimmicks
Tesla's Autopilot, while not a self-driving system, does give electric car drivers some freedom. It allows them to depend on the system, but periodically have to put their hands on the wheel to show that they are present and aware.
Of course, ways were quickly found to trick the systems and thus almost completely eliminate the driver's attention. The examples pile up and even a simple orange has already been used to simulate the presence of the driver.
The latest Full Self-Driving Beta (V10.69.3.1) is capable of detecting some forms of autopilot manipulation devices and will be slowly scaled over time as Tesla discovers new methods.
If detected, it will result in a forced disengagement of the autopilot; resulting strikes.

Driver also present with AutoPilot
All scenarios associated with cheats are about to stop working, as can be seen in the latest update, which is still being tested. The operating system of Tesla cars thus becomes smarter and can detect when cheats are being used.
As of now, whenever devices are detected, Tesla AutoPilot will be turned off. The warnings will accumulate and the user may be prevented from activating the system, having to start the journey again to gain access to this functionality again.
After the wide release of V11, it is assumed that the "strikes" system will be removed.
Using these devices will continue to disengage the autopilot and prevent further activation until the next drive (similar to current behaviour).

You won't be able to fool electric cars
It is also revealed that the system will be able to be upgraded whenever new ways to trick AutoPilot are discovered. Thus, the novelty acquires the ability to adapt in the future, protecting users.
While it may seem controversial, Tesla's system improvement will protect users. The presence of an aware and attentive driver is essential in Elon Musk-branded electric cars and this is why he is periodically asked to touch the steering wheel and thus demonstrate that he is present.
