In a landslide caused by heavy rains in Italy on the island of Ischia, near Naples, one person was killed and a dozen are missing, said the prefect of Naples, Claudio Palomba.
“Currently, the number of confirmed deaths is of a woman. Eight missing people have been found, including a child, and about ten are still missing,” announced the prefect at a press conference.
About 100 people who lived near the landslide have been evacuated, he added.
The landslide occurred above the town of Kasamičola Terme and reached the sea.
The Adi news agency and the newspaper La Repubblica, when the first news of the Ischia landslide appeared on Saturday, quoted Infrastructure Minister Mateo Salvini as saying eight people had lost their lives.
True, after a few hours, the Minister of the Interior, Mateo Piantedozi, in turn indicated that there are no confirmed reports of deaths in this landslide.
