Note that this object, dubbed 2022 AP7, is between 1.1 and 2.3 km in diameter, making it the largest potentially hazardous asteroid discovered in about eight years.
2022 AP7 was first seen at the Cerro Tololo-DECam Observatory in Chile on January 13, 2022.
The minimum Earth-orbit-crossing distance for 2022 AP7 is 0.0475 astronomical units. The perihelion of the asteroid’s orbit is about 0.83 astronomical units from the Sun.
