Wales fan dies in Qatar after match against Iran

TIME.CO, Jakarta – A supporter of the Wales national team World Cup 2022 Qatar is dead. The Football Association of Wales confirmed the fan was Pembrokeshire’s Kevin Davies, 62.

Sky News reported that Davies was rushed to Hamad General Hospital, Doha, after the match against Wales Iran Friday, November 25, 2022. He was later pronounced dead.

Davies’ death is believed to be a medical accident. It is understood that he did not attend Wales’ 2-0 defeat, but he remained in his apartment after falling ill.

“I’m so sad to hear that one of our fans has died here,” Noel Mooney, chief executive of the Football Association of Wales (FAW), said on Twitter.

Mooney added that FAW offered his condolences to his family. They said they were willing to stand by anything for as long as possible.

Fan representatives from the Football Supporters Association of Wales also regretted Davies’ death. He conveyed his condolences to the Davies family in Wales.

“May he rest in peace,” said the fan.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Wales she said she was supporting the family of a British man who had died in Qatar. Officials believe more than 2,500 Wales fans traveled to Qatar for the tournament.
