Fiber optic everywhere in the four nooks and crannies vellaves? Flea! In any case, this is the project adopted by the AuRa Region and the Auvergne departments to generalize digital coverage by 2025.
During the SDTAN (Territorial Digital Development Master Plan) Steering Committee, this political ambition to generalize optical fiber by 2025 throughout the public area was approved on July 25, 2022.
At this stage, 387,000 sockets, including 98,278 in the Haute-Loire department, are contractually envisaged to be made connectable to optical fiber by the end of 2022, or 75% of housing in the public initiative area. On 16 July 2013, a partnership agreement was signed between the Region and Orange for a period of 24 years (2013 – 2037).
Big check for the Department to sign
At the end of 2022, of the 1,174 municipalities in the Auvergne public initiative zone, 217 are almost 100% eligible for fiber optics, 657 municipalities require additional investment to be fully eligible for fiber optics, 300 municipalities are not included in the project currently planned.
To finalize the distribution of the fiber to all the Altiligériens, the Departmental Council of Haute-Loire has foreseen a balance to be financed of 8.7 million euros, consisting of an annual loan of 600,000 euros for 15 years starting in 2023. Of the 106 million euros to be financed financed for all 4 departments, 50% is paid by the Region.
