After leaving Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo is looking for a new club. A transfer to Saudi Arabia could now take place.
WHAT HAPPENED? Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal over the summer. The 37-year-old was offered a lucrative contract worth 350m, which CR7 said he turned down. Now the Portuguese superstar has not been signed by Manchester United and speculation is back on his next move.
WHAT WAS SAID? Saudi Arabia’s sports minister Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal he opposed BBCSport now commented on a possible purchase of CR7: “Anything is possible, I would like to see Ronaldo play in the Saudi league. It would be a boon for the league and the sports ecosystem in Saudi Arabia and inspire young people for the future. He is a role model for many children and has a large following.”
WHAT’S NEXT? Cristiano Ronaldo will face Uruguay at the World Cup in Qatar following the Portuguese national team’s 3-2 win over Ghana on matchday two of the group match (Monday, 20:00). A decision on his future is not expected before the end of the World Cup.
