Together with support for Ukraine, three concerts offer an inspiring journey into the new world of Ukrainian and Latvian music.
Premiere at Kuldīga Youth House on November 25 at 18.00 there will be music Shakim trio: Ukrainian singer, folklorist and violinist Shakima Garuntsa, guitarist Jānis Runģis and bassist Ainārs Majors. Equipped with a multi-colored voice, Shakima sings different styles of music. Guitarist Jānis Rungis creates the rhythmic world of the trio, while bassist Ainārs Majors is also the artistic producer of the Shakima trio. The group has been actively involved in the musical life of Latvia since the spring, representing world music and ethno-ambient style. At the concert in Kuldīga, the trio will present their new debut album Vysoko.
Klavins Piano in the concert hall on December 16 at 18.00, a group of three musicians created especially for this project will play classical melodies of Christmas music and traditional Ukrainian winter solstice music. The group consists of the young and talented pianist Evija Auziņa from Kuldīga, in whose performance the audience will have the opportunity to hear a unique instrument designed by Dāvids Kļaviņas and manufactured in Kuldīga: the piano a cord – the sound. Ukrainian musicians are represented in the association by violinist Nina Khanetska, who worked in the Kharkiv and Chernihiv symphony orchestras, but is currently a member of the LNSO, as well as ethnic musician Darya Leleko, who will play the traditional Ukrainian musical instrument bandura and sing to the concert. Darja came to Latvia from Mykolaiv, where she worked as an actress at the Mykolaiv Drama and Musical Theater.
in the Kuldīga Cultural Center on January 13 at 18.00 a group of Latvian and Ukrainian musicians will perform Without properties. Each member of the band had their own musical journey and, therefore, their own unique sound and approach: jazz, pop music, authentic folk music, choral music or even rock music. Varakut consists of the famous Latvian musician with roots in Ukraine, Katrīna Gupalo, and Ukrainian singers Viktorija Pritulyak, Anastasija Vasilenko, Anastasija Jatsenko and Larisa Selesta, who performed together for the first time this summer at the Andrej Osokina Freedom Festival for Ukraine. The concert will feature romantic, emotional, energetic and uplifting Ukrainian songs, romances and folk songs, as well as particularly soulful compositions by Latvian authors. The concerts are organized by the Kuldīga municipality with the support of the State Cultural Capital Fund, all concerts are available for free.
