Introducing Theo Ogundipe – Music News

Theo Ogundipe was born in Nigeria and raised in the United Kingdom, where he currently resides. Theo’s music is an eclectic fusion of various genres, including soul, hip-hop, indie and RnB. He is inspired by his life growing up in the diaspora. His description of their sound is “a smooth lyrical mix of canned production with ’70s soul”.

After his self-produced project ‘Reworks’, which gained wide support from online publications, radio stations and playlists, Theo presented his latest project ‘Plato Freestyle’. A musical philosopher in training, the single demonstrates Theo’s ability to create vivid imagery through his poetic and thoughtful lyrics. Straightforward vocals and pounding beats contrast beautifully with sky-blue choral synths, further enhancing the song’s impact.

Discussing the meaning behind the new track, Theo shared, “It’s a statement of intent, purpose and self-reliance.” Reflecting on tragic world events such as the murder of George Floyd, Theo was inspired to write a vulnerable expression of will and purpose.

The release of “Plato Freestyle” was accompanied by the official music video. This song is the first sample from Theo’s self-produced debut EP ‘IN TRANSIT’, which will be released in the not too distant future.
