There have been a number of surprises World Cup 2022two of which were Saudi Arabia which defeated Argentina and Japan which crushed Germany.
Former Dutch international player Ron Vlaar thinks the 2022 World Cup will be full of surprises because the quality of each team’s players is more evenly distributed. It was thus that each competitor develops players from a young age.
“Then the level of the tournament has increased. Because a number of teams benefit from a number of above-average quality players. Players are developed from an early age,” said Vlaar.
“Besides this there are also players who play in big competitions. Of course this is very interesting to watch and interesting to wait for,” Vlaar said at the press conference of the Oranje Indonesia Festival in Jakarta on Thursday (11/24).
However, the former Aston Villa player believes the Netherlands can win the title this season. The reason is that Der Oranje’s squad is full of quality players of mature age.
“I think the squad Van Gaal brings is of high quality because he selects well. He makes sure that the players get good places, so they can contribute to the squad,” he said in analysis.
To take this title, Vlaar believes Brazil and Argentina are the toughest competitors. In addition to this, there is Belgium, inhabited by champions.
“Brazil of course [lawan terkuat], then Argentina even though they lost the first game. I’m still one of the best. Then Belgium, they have a lot of good players,” he explained.
The Netherlands are in Group A with Ecuador, Senegal and host Qatar. Currently, the Netherlands are at the top of the table in Group A and on Friday evening (25/11) they will play their second match against Ecuador.
