Smogon is a competitive user community for the Pokémon series. Founded in 2004, it is a large community with over 450,000 members. They have established their own rules which are different from official tournaments and online tournaments and matches are actively held between members. Smogon has its own ranks that determine Pokémon’s characteristics and moves, and each rank has a level board that decides and coordinates the rules.
