Bad Bunny balloon makes Thanksgiving parade debut – NBC New York (47)

Bad Bunny hasn’t missed out on the tradition of the New York Thanksgiving parade, at least his balloon hasn’t been lost.

The warmer heart balloon, which looked like the cover of the Puerto Rican artist’s fourth album, “Un Verano Sin Ti,” made its debut at the 96th annual parade on Nov. 24.

The annual tradition, which dates back nearly a century, has filled the streets with a procession of giant inflatables and floats more than 40 blocks from Central Park to New York’s Herald Square.

This year’s parade featured 16 giant balloons, 28 floats, 40 historic and novelty inflatables, 12 marching bands, 10 performance groups, 700 clowns and a Santa Claus.

The costumed attendees were recreating their annual Thanksgiving “Pilgrim’s Progress” procession, representing the 51 survivors of that first brutal winter of 1621, though Thursday’s team was in better shape, with sunny skies and temperatures in the 100s.

President Biden and Jill Biden called the parade, as they did last year. Biden thanked firefighters, police officers and first responders, saying, “They never take a break.”
