Singer Dasha (41) is one of the greatest Czech talents ever, her singing is, as Tereza Kostková (46) rightly said, world-class. She has now christened the new album Ellaboration, which she recorded with the Epoque Quartet. The jazz CD filled with Ella Fitzgerald’s hits could not be christened anywhere else than in Prague’s Jazz Dock. What did the singer reveal? She sang more than one hour concert with indisposition, she also remembered Karel Gott, for whom she sang for a long time.
Above the designation of the best Czech singer Dasha she smiles coyly, but she herself regularly performs on stage in a world-class and technically perfectly sophisticated show. Now she has called her new jazz album Ellaboration, the album contains, as her name suggests, songs straight from the mouth of musical legend Ella Fitzgerald. According to Dasha, this is exactly what every singer should hear.
“I listened to the guys too, so I wouldn’t be influenced by someone’s speech,” he admitted to us in an interview. She is not currently taking singing lessons, yet she has performed despite a vocal ailment. She recorded the album Ellaboration in collaboration with the Epoque Quartet and performed jazz pieces in a new and innovative arrangement.
Even the disease did not stop her, the singer did not know about her vocal indisposition at all, although she spoke about it on stage. After a few songs she was already baptized and Tereza Kostková, herself a lover of jazz music, took part in her baptism.
Dasha also performed extensively alongside Karel Gott and remembered the maestro on stage during the christening and concert at the Jazz Dock. She was said to pay great attention to her German pronunciation, which must have been impeccable.
“He had many musical role models, he even named his daughter Charlotte after Ella Fitzgerald, she got her middle name,” Dasha told us in an interview. She was Gott’s singer for a long time, they even traveled together to Germany, where the singer sang her hits in German.
In which musical would Dasha still want to sing? There are quite a few! You will learn this and much more in our video interview.
