Not everyone remembers the real data of the Gascon.
Any admirer of the work of Alexandre Dumas or a viewer who appreciates cinema can easily remember the names of the main characters of The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan, Athos, Porthos and Aramis. After the release of the Soviet film adaptation of the author’s work in 1979, his novel began to be read in the USSR, because Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich showed such vivid images on the screen.
But not all fans remember the real names of the Musketeers and the brave Gascon. After all, D’Artagnan is just the name of the hero. And in the text of the novel it is said that he had the name Charles. Moreover, at the birth of the hero he was named even more exquisitely – Ogier de Batz de Castelmore. True, he preferred not to use this name.
Porthos’ surname also sounded noble – Vallon de Brassier de Pierrefonds. Aramis also had a middle name – Rene d’Herble. But the public well remembered the name of Athos – Comte de La Fere. And literary connoisseurs discovered in the work of Dumas the second name of the hero – Olivier.
