Boy (5) Rescued Alive From Under Rubble Two Days After Java Earthquake | Abroad

A five-year-old boy has been pulled alive from under the rubble more than two days after the earthquake on the Indonesian island of Java. This was announced by the local fire brigade.

Five-year-old Azka was largely unharmed, as he was protected from falling rocks by a mattress. He was conscious when he was pulled from the rubble.

According to health workers, the boy is weakened because he hasn’t eaten or drunk for two days.

Azka’s mother died in the earthquake. He hasn’t been notified yet. Relatives will probably take care of him.

Java was hit by a magnitude 5.6 earthquake on Monday. At least 271 people died, while more than a thousand people were injured. Among the victims many children.

Dozens of missing people are still wanted. Earlier, the Indonesian disaster relief service said that the longer missing people are not found, the chances of survival get smaller.

Relief work in the mountainous region was hampered by infrastructure damage and power outages. There were also more than a hundred aftershocks.
