DOHA, November 23, WAM/ The Spain national team scored a big victory over their Costa Rican counterpart, with seven unanswered goals, in their opening match of Group E of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which brought them together at Al-Thumama Stadium .
The match was refereed by an Emirati referee team headed by Muhammad Abdullah Hassan, the team referee, and each of the two assistant referees, Muhammad Ahmed Al Hammadi and Hassan Al Mahri, and managed to manage the match efficiently and simple, as the events of the match saw no interference from video referee technology (the mouse) in the decisions of the refereeing staff.
The Spanish national team ended the first half with a 3-0 lead thanks to Dani Olmo (11), Marco Asensio (21) and Ferran Torres (31) from penalties.
In the second half, the Spanish national team added four new goals with Torres (54), Jaffe (75), Carlos Soler (90) and Alvaro Morata completed the Spanish goals (90 + 2).
With this result, the Spanish team lead the Group E table with three points, with a goal difference from the Japanese team, who collected the same points balance, and the German and Costa Rican teams finished in third and fourth place without points.
This match is the highest score so far in the World Cup and the second highest score in a match after the England-Iran match which saw 8 goals scored in England’s 6-2 win.
