Art Rider – RAI Press Office

The value of commissioning in art: that is, the will of great personalities to commission artists to celebrate their deeds with great works of art. A story of which the young archaeologist Andrea Angelucci searches for traces between the Northern Marches and Umbria in “Art Rider”, broadcast on Wednesday 23 November at 21.15 in premiere on Rai 5. A journey to discover the artistic heritage linked to war fought by lords and lordships, between fortresses, soldiers of fortune and masterpieces. Andrea Angelucci leaves from Umbria, in Gubbio – between Federico da Montefeltro’s Studiolo in the Palazzo Ducale, the Palazzo dei Consoli with the Eugubine Tables and the Roman Theater – to then move on to the Montelabbate Abbey. He then continued on to the Marches, to Cagli with the theater and the Church of San Domenico for the Cappella dei Tiranni with the paintings by Giovanni Santi, to the Rocca Roveresca di Mondavio and to the Bronzi di Pergola. To accompany his journey, Amerigo Varotti, president of Confcommercio Marche, Luca Baldelli, expert of the Eugubine Tables; and Benilde Marini, councilor for culture of Cagli.
Inseparable travel companion is Angelucci’s notebook, a diary of extraordinary beauty in which Andrea draws and paints the monuments and some details of the works of art that he discovers during his itinerary.
