The “Golden Microphone” of the year award for Latvian music records will also be presented in a completely new nomination – “Most Played Record with ‘Elektrum'”. In 2022 the most listened Latvian record on music streaming sites will be awarded.
In the nomination, data from music streaming websites will be collected, forming a top five most listened Latvian record. The focus of the nomination is a recording – a song or instrumental piece, not an album as a whole, because listening to music on the Internet is mostly through music selections made by the curators or by the listeners themselves. Data monitoring will be carried out by “Ranger Computers” (Great Britain) in cooperation with the largest streaming and download services “Spotify”, “Apple Music”, “Deezer”, “Youtube” and others. The results of music streaming in the territory of Latvia will be taken into account.
“Most streamed record” can be considered an important nomination for the music industry, which will give a broader overview of the industry’s current events, as well as offering an insight into its possible development.
“Although with this nomination we are stepping outside the Grammy standards, it is important for the local market and its development to pay attention to digital broadcasting. We are the only music industry event in Latvia, so we also have the responsibility to reflect the trend of the digital consumption,” says Elita Mīlgrāve, producer of “Zelta Mikrofons”.
It should be remembered that the International Exhibition Center of Ķīpsala has been chosen as the venue for the next “Zelta Mikrofons ’23” on February 18, which offers the opportunity for new scenographic solutions. For the first time, it is possible to purchase tickets for the ceremony even for people not related to the world of music, thus experiencing the joy of the musicians’ victory in person. The winners of “Zelta Mikrofons ’23” will receive two prizes: a physical and a digital statuette. The internationally recognized Latvian artist Kiwie creates for each nomination a different NFT or statuette in digital crypto-art, which can already be viewed on the social networks “Zelta Mikrofons”.
