There will probably be restrictions on train traffic on the railway line between Hanover and Berlin until 16 December. The reason is the rescue and cleanup work by the fire brigade and the railways after the collision of two freight trains in Leiferde in the Gifhorn district (Lower Saxony).
Trains of private railway companies collided in a rear-end collision near Leiferde last Thursday. At the scene of the accident, special units of the fire brigade are currently pumping the propane gas from the four overturned tank cars in a complex process and burning the remaining quantities in a controlled manner.
As soon as the fire brigade has cleared the accident site, the railway experts can start cleaning up and removing the overturned cars.
Long-distance traffic between Hanover and Berlin will therefore remain affected beyond 27 November 2022 until 16 December 2022.
The following long distance connections are affected:
– ICE trains NRW – Hamm or Münster/Westf – Hanover – Berlin will be rerouted and delayed by at least 90 minutes. The Wolfsburg stop is omitted. Alternatively, the trains stop in Stendal.
– The ICE trains Switzerland – Karlsruhe – Frankfurt (M) – Kassel – Berlin are diverted between Fulda and Berlin. Alternatively, the trains stop in Erfurt and Halle.
