Madam Director:
We congratulate the decision of the Science Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, which a few days ago began to speed up the drafting of the bill that aims to implement a universal charger for cell phones and other electronic devices in the country.
The provision is not only consistent with the comparative legislation, as is the case with the European Union, but also offers consumers the possibility of accessing a greater number of electrical and electronic devices, without adding costs to the already high price they have to pay for these devices. It will also encourage a sustainable culture and waste reduction.
The important thing is that the common good and rationality prevail, given that in Europe some sectors have systematically opposed this legislation, without considering the reality of millions of people who could not opt for the constant renewal of this type of product. Likewise, such a measure increases the possibility of buying a charger from different suppliers, encouraging competition and ultimately lowering prices.
