the shareholders plan to sell the club and Cristiano Ronaldo leaves

If launched, cd will be the football deal of the year. Manchester United, the legendary English football team, could in fact be put up for sale by its American owners, the Glazers.

“The board is initiating a process to explore strategic alternatives for the club. The process is designed to enhance the club’s future growth, with the ultimate goal of positioning it to take advantage of both on-field and commercial opportunities. As part of this process, the board will consider all strategic alternatives, including new investments, sales or other transactions. This will include an assessment of several initiatives to strengthen the club, including the redevelopment of the stadium and infrastructure, and the expansion of the club’s commercial operations globally,” Manchester United said in a statement.

Departure of Cristiano Ronaldo

This announcement comes as the relationship between the Mancunian club and Cristiano Ronaldo closed “by mutual agreement” a few hours earlier. For the Portuguese, present in Qatar for the 2022 World Cup and now free to commit himself wherever he wants, the future appears very uncertain.

«Cristiano Ronaldo must be let go Manchester United by mutual consent, effective immediately,” the club wrote soberly in the press release, thanking him for “the immense contribution during his two spells at Old Trafford.”

The 37-year-old superstar released his statement assuring that “he likes it Manchester United and (…) the fans and this will never change”.

These exchanges of courtesy poorly masked the mutual relief of seeing the end of a relationship that had passed the point of no return between the player and the management.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick, Erik Ten Hag, i.e. all his past or present coaches during his second spell at Old Trafford took him by their grade, as did some glorious veterans, such as Wayne Rooney who had the audacity to criticize his performance and behavior.

Ronaldo, who notably left his teammates and the stadium even before the end of a Premier League match against Tottenham after refusing entry, was far from blameless.

In any case, he no longer entered Ten Hag’s plans, appointed to the bench of Manchester this summer and which has been strengthened by the excellent results obtained without the services of the Portuguese player.
