AFTER THE HUNT FOR MIGRANTS: Is there a mistake in the police action? – Crimes – Crimes – News NOVA

The chase between a bus with migrants and police officers today has reopened the issue of problems at the Viminale and in the training of the forces of order. And the unions have announced that the cup has overflowed and they are coming out with new demands.

The unions of the Ministry of the Interior have announced that in early December they will prepare specific requests to solve the problem with the equipment of police officers.

According to them, the means for forcibly stopping vehicles are extremely insufficient, and in some places even lacking.

This time, however, they will also set a deadline to meet their demands. And if it is not respected, protests and calls for the resignation of the leadership will follow.

The rush between the bus with the migrants and the police shows not only serious symptoms in the training of police officers in the system, but also a problem in the management, according to the former vice-rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – associate professor Milen Ivanov.

“We are always used to looking for the blame in the ordinary policeman, but unfortunately the fault usually lies with those who manage the operation,” said assoc Milen Ivanov of Angel Kanchev University in Ruse.

The actions of the uniformed officers indicate several possible tactics: running out of fuel on the bus or looking for a suitable place to stop it by force. However, it would be dangerous if the vehicle was allowed to enter the city.

“In this case, if the police officers had the spikes in question to stop the vehicle, that is the most profitable tactic in all cases. Hardly in the Sofia regional directorate, in the whole direction, they don’t have devices like spikes,” says Prof. Ivanov.

Less than 3 months ago, a patrol car with two policemen blocked the way of a bus with migrants in Burgas. The men in uniform – Atanas Gradev and Yordan Iliev – died on the spot. Then, as now, the police didn’t have spike strips.

“The Interior Ministry lacks the equipment for this type of suspension,” explained Iliya Kuzmanov of the Interior Ministry Employees’ Union Federation.

From there they announced that they would take retaliatory action.

“The cup of our patience has overflowed. This time we won’t wait any longer, 4 lives and 1 colleague who is fighting for him, that’s already too high a price for us and we don’t accept it anymore,” said Kuzmanov.

Specific requests with deadlines will be prepared at the beginning of December.
