The Americans have owned Manchester United for 17 years, but have been hugely unpopular with the club’s supporters. Several times there have been violent protests by Manchester United fans.
– Since the Glazer family joined, the club’s value has increased enormously while the team hasn’t done very well, says Stamsø-Møller, who is not surprised that the Glazers are looking for investors.
– We may have seen the signs. Ed Woodward, who made Manchester United almost a record store, has left the club. Therefore, one could guess that they want a new direction and just want to sell the club. For the sums per hour they can sell the club, they can cash in and be very happy. I see it as a win-win for everyone, says Stamsø-Møller.
The Glazer family paid just under a billion Norwegian kroner in 2005. On the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday, Manchester United was worth just over 22 billion Norwegian kroner, but Sky News refers to reports that the Glazer family will demand at least 60 billion Norwegian kroner for the club.
