“Variety” writes that director Quentin Tarantino considers “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” his best film. When the director visited Howard Stern on the SiriusXM show, the host asked the Oscar winner what he considers his best work.
“People have been asking me for years,” Tarantino said, admitting he’s constantly challenged to pick his best picture. “And then I say something along the lines of ‘oh, they’re all like kids to me,'” the director shares his memories. But when it comes to naming just one, Tarantino says, “I really think my best movie is Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
Leonardo di Caprio and Brad Pitt play the main roles in the film released in 2019. The action of the film takes place in 1969 Los Angeles. The story is about an actor and his stuntman trying to survive in a changing Hollywood during the sunset of the golden age. Margot Robbie plays Sharon Tate in the film adaptation.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood grossed $374 million at the worldwide box office. At the 2020 “Oscar” awards night, the film was nominated for an award in ten categories, including best directorial work and best film of the year. This evening Brad Pitt received the “Oscar” statuette for best supporting actor.
Work on the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood project was announced in July 2017. This is Tarantino’s first film not made in collaboration with producers Bob and Harvey Weinstein, since the director broke with them after Harvey was accused of sexual abuse.
This is the last film starring actor Luke Perry, who passed away in March 2019, and is dedicated to his memory.
