Yesterday, Musk’s (51) fortune plummeted by a whopping $8.6 billion (€8.4 billion) to $169.8 billion (€165.3 billion). Tesla then fell 6.8 percent on the New York stock exchanges. The company has recalled more than 300,000 cars in the United States due to taillight problems. Tesla is also sensitive to lockdowns in China, as the country is a major market for the electric car maker.
Despite this, Musk is still the richest man in the world. Bernard Arnault (73) – founder and chairman of the board of Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, a conglomerate with luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton and Dior – follows in second place with $157 billion (€153 billion).
However, no one in the “Bloomberg Billionaires Index” has lost as much money in 2022 as Musk. Just over a year ago, he peaked at $340 billion (€330 billion), double what he has now.
