Sufmi Dasco calls on the government to pay attention to the availability of the polio vaccine

Suara.com – Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives RE, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad asked the government to pay attention to availability polio vaccine towards children. This came in response to findings from a case of polio virus infection that attacked a 7-year-old boy in Pidie, Aceh, which ultimately forced Indonesia to announce a polio outbreak in the country.

“Although only a few cases have been found, in my opinion this polio vaccine is very necessary, especially for children. Therefore, we request the government, besides focusing on the COVID vaccine, of course, to further improve the polio vaccine, especially in the areas where the spread has been detected,” Dasco told reporters at the Senayan Complex. , Jakarta, on Monday (21/ 11/2022).

Earlier on November 28, 2022, the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) revealed plans for a mass vaccination or Outbreak Response Immunization (ORI) in Pidie, Aceh. The plan for carrying out this vaccination was in the aftermath of the discovery of 1 case of polio in the area.

In addition, the Ministry of Health also plans to accelerate the polio vaccination in all districts and cities of Aceh to be held on December 5, 2022. Currently, the Ministry of Health is consulting with the World Health Organization (WHO) on regarding the implementation of the vaccine.
