A 24-year-old man from Boskoop was sentenced to three years in prison for causing an accident in which a 20-year-old woman from Alphen aan den Rijn was killed.
The court finds him guilty of reckless driving. The Public Prosecutor (OM) had asked for five years in prison.
20-year-old Kaylee was shot on Friday evening, July 8, on the Oranje Nassausingel in Alphen aan den Rijn. She died instantly from her injuries.
Just before the moment of the collision, the man was driving at 132 kilometers per hour, traffic research showed. On the road, a maximum of 70 kilometers per hour is permitted.
The court believes there is sufficient evidence for intent, it reports Transmission in the West: “The suspect deliberately violated traffic rules. He was in a hurry and drove ‘like a Mongolian,'” he said after the accident.
In addition to the prison sentence, A. may not be behind the wheel for five years.
