Kochi: The court will today consider the investigation team’s custody application to release the accused in the 19-year-old gang rape case in Kochi.
The investigation team has requested that the accused be held in custody for one week. Once the defendants have been taken into custody, the evidence gathering process will begin.
Evidence can be taken to the locations where the girl was driven, including Pallimuk’s pub and the hotel where she ate. Police are also investigating whether the defendants are linked to the drug mafia.
As part of this, the accused will be questioned again. Dimple, a native of Rajasthan and model, and Sudeep, Vivek and Nitin, natives of Kodungallur, are in custody.
A 19-year-old girl was gang-raped on the night of the 17th. The 19-year-old arrived at a cafe in Kochi with her friend Dimple at around 8.30pm. At around 10am, the 19-year-old collapsed in the bar. Having said that, the young man took the girl by car saying that they would take her to her residence. Dimple wasn’t in the car.
Then the young men who drove around different parts of the city took turns raping the girl in the car and finally leaving her at their home. The girl from the gang rape said she suspected Dimple had mixed powder into the beer she had given her.
