The firefighters emptied the engine compartment and the civil defense rushed to the scene to suck up and drain the contaminated water. It is an old boat over 100 years old. “The boat was worn out and there were holes. As a result, the ship started to sink,” says Mayor Mien Van Olmen (CD&V). “The holes are above water again, but after rain the boat can sink quickly.”
