NFL: Wan’Dale Robinson of the New York Giants will miss the rest of the season

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — New York Giants rookie Wan’Dale Robinson will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee Sunday in the 31-18 loss to the Detroit Lions at MetLife Stadium head coach Brian Daboll Monday confirmed.

The catcher’s knee buckled when he was tackled sideline on the first play of the fourth quarter. He fell to the ground and immediately grabbed his knee in pain. A source told ESPN after the match we feared a serious injury.

Robinson’s first season ended after 23 receptions for 227 yards and one touchdown in six games.

A second-round pick, she was playing the most productive match of her career before sustaining the injury. She caught nine balls for 100-yard gains.

The Giants, who were already experiencing some difficulties with their receiving team, will therefore have to do without one of their best players to close out the season. They will have to find a solution on Thursday when the team takes on the Cowboys.

“We know how explosive Robinson can be. Not counting on him will definitely be a big loss, but he will give other players opportunities and we have faith in our other players to play,” running back Saquon Barkley said after Sunday’s loss.

Richie James will find himself in the catcher position for Robinson. James filled that role earlier this season when Robinson missed four games with another injury.

The Giants (7-3) should also be able to count on Kalil Pimpleton, who should be promoted from the practice squad.

The receiving team, led by Darius Slayton, also includes Isaiah Hodgins, David Sills V and Marcus Johnson.

“We have several wide receivers on the team,” Daboll said. It’s a short week. We will prepare our players. »
