Hybrid solar eclipse phenomenon
Andi Pangerang, researcher at the Space Science Center, Indonesian Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) said that Indonesia may witness one of the natural phenomena next year.
This phenomenon is a solar eclipse called a hybrid. He estimates that this rare eclipse will occur in 2023.
For the Indonesian people themselves, perhaps the phenomenon of a solar eclipse is not a strange thing.
Basically a solar eclipse occurs when the position of the moon is between the Earth and the Sun.
This causes some or even all of the sunlight in the sky to appear dim on Earth.
What is a hybrid eclipse?
There are several types of solar eclipses, one of which is called this hybrid. This eclipse is a combination of a total solar eclipse and an annular solar eclipse.
So when this hybrid eclipse takes place, there will be a total solar eclipse phase along with an annular solar eclipse at a consecutive time.
Andi Pangerang explained that the hybrid term is due to the fact that in an eclipse path there are two types, namely Total and Ring. That is why this solar eclipse is a rare natural phenomenon.

It occurs only in different regions of Indonesia
As this is a rare phenomenon, this hybrid eclipse is highly anticipated. However, not all areas have seen this eclipse.
BRIN stated that the estimated date this eclipse will occur is April 20, 2023. This also coincides with the conjunction or ijtimak at the end of the month of Ramadan 1444 Hijriah.
Not all areas of Indonesia will experience this solar eclipse. After that, only some parts of Eastern Indonesia will experience it.
The Hybrid Eclipse will pass through several areas of the Moluccas, namely the Leti Islands, the Watubela Islands and the Damar Islands. Aside from that, the hybrid eclipse will also pass through West Papua and Biak areas.
BRIN added that Indonesia has only experienced a total solar eclipse. Meanwhile, the path of this ring solar eclipse is the southwestern waters of Australia and the waters of the central Pacific.
Apart from these areas, other areas will only experience a partial solar eclipse, especially the westernmost region of Indonesia.

However, particularly for areas like Banda Aceh Sabang and Aceh Besar will not experience this partial solar eclipse.
So for those whose areas don’t get a total solar eclipse in this hybrid solar eclipse, there’s no need to be disappointed. This is because other parts of Indonesia are still experiencing a partial solar eclipse. (R10/HR-Online)
