Thiruvananthapuram: Aside from money, bribes in government departments require everything from shirts and luxury items to sex. The testimony of the supervisory officers is that if some of the agents previously took bribes in the offices, now there has been a change. In five years, 127 people have been caught in corruption cases. Officials also clarified that bribe-takers still continue in various departments.
40 people this year, plus income
Vigilance has caught 40 people this year taking bribes. There are those who have accepted bribes through electronic means. 14 of those arrested this year are revenue officials. Just behind it are the local self-government institutions where 13 people were arrested. The ophthalmologist, the manager of Supplyco, police and education department officials are also on the arrest list.
Most bribes are for certificates of income
Many people demanded bribes for issuing income certificates. Oversight officials point out that officials have been demanding bribes to make revenue services available online quickly. Some of those arrested this year have demanded up to Rs 75,000. There are officers who have been arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs. They were mostly caught in bribery cases from offices, canteens, hotels, vehicles, agent offices and homes.
