PARIAMAN, RADARSUMBAR.COM – The government of Pariaman City, West Sumatra is predicting an increase in mosquito larvae after heavy rainfall in and around the area for more than a week to suppress the addition of residents who are attacked by dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).
“Usually after the rainy season there will be many places where mosquito larvae live, so this needs to be minimized,” Pariaman health service chief Nazifah a Pariaman said on Sunday.
He said this is important because there has been an increase in dengue cases in Pariaman this year, more than 170 cases caused by the weather changing from rainy to hot so that mosquito breeding grounds have appeared.
Therefore, he continued, he called on all levels of society in the area to carry out the Eradication of Mosquito Nests (PSN) through 3M Plus so that no more Pariaman residents become infected with DHF. “Prioritize the PSN first so there are no mosquito nests,” she said.
He appealed to area residents to minimize nesting sites for mosquitoes, starting with piled up or hanging laundry, regularly emptying bathtubs and other places that may collect water. 3M drains, closes, removes or recycles places that can hold water.
While the benefits are sprinkling larvicidal or knockdown powder in hard-to-clean reservoirs, using mosquito or mosquito repellents, using mosquito nets while sleeping, placing fish in reservoirs, and planting mosquito repellent plants.
It should be noted that from Friday (11/11/2022) to Saturday (19/11/2022) rain fell in and around Pariaman, varying in intensity from light to heavy, accompanied by strong winds.
Earlier, the health bureau of Pariaman (Dinkes) city, West Sumatra, noted that the number of residents infected with dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the area this year had reached 170 cases, of which three died. .
“The cases are already over 170 cases, this is much increased from last year,” Pariaman health bureau chief Nazifah told Pariaman.
He said the DHF cases were spread across all the subdistricts of the area, but most were found in central and southern Pariaman because they are densely populated areas. He said that so far his party has promoted mutual cooperation in the eradication of mosquito nests (PSN) in Pariaman while spraying was the latest effort.
In October 2022 the number of DHF cases in Pariaman was 140 but now it has reached 170 cases as compared to last year there were only 59 cases. (rdr/ant)
