On Tuesday, the app went live in the afternoon. We were on Borodyanka. We filmed what was left of an entire apartment building after the airstrikes. There’s not much left. Operator Nikita jumped. I gasped. The thought in my head – second time at the same place, I wonder if…
Local residents are not responding. Go about your business. In the square in front of the destroyed nine-story house, the girls are happy: even if there is a war, no one has canceled their childhood.
It turns out that on that day Ukraine was hit by the largest missile attack of the whole war. Now the damage is in Lviv, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv and other cities. Three rockets hit Kiev – two high-rise buildings in the Pechersk district and a new building in the Obolon district. An elderly woman died, there are victims. We heard or saw nothing: we were about thirty kilometers from the epicenter. However, after half an hour, one message after another comes: “How are things there? There is an air alert in Kiev!” But we answer: nothing, we just work.
There are “caps” in Kiev. Some traffic lights do not work due to power outages. We’re half an hour late for the interview. Just during the conversation, “Trivoga” sounds again. It is reported that there is no longer any reason to worry – the air alert has been canceled. Instantly calmer.
Today there is no electricity in our hotel – this is the consequence of the strikes on energy objects. So let’s go to bed early. It just doesn’t work – he shouts “Тривога” again. “But maybe ignore it?” a thought comes to mind. I shoo him away. We go down to the shelter. In peacetime it was an underground car park. Now the chairs are assembled here, there are blankets, pillows, water.
There are about fifteen people in the shelter. About one on each floor of the hotel. So “Тривога” causes anxiety especially among those who have been to Ukraine recently.
After about fifteen minutes, the alarm is canceled. You can go to sleep. However, electricity has appeared.
We leave early in the morning. Kiev journalist Andriy accompanies us. About three hundred meters from the hotel, he says: “Look, it’s the philological faculty, I studied Ukrainian here. You see – in all the buildings all around are the windows covered with veneer? There was a hit here a month ago . “
On the morning of October 10, several explosions rocked the center of Kiev. Seven people were killed, 49 were injured. At that time, 84 missiles were fired at Ukraine, from November 15 to 96.
Anxiety is always with you.
I will report on the future.
