Countries have reached a stalemate on offsetting the poorest countries for the devastating effects of climate change.
The conference is attended by 197 countries, contracting parties to the UN General Convention on Climate Change, as well as representatives of various organizations: business people, the non-governmental sector and the media.
At the previous United Nations Climate Conference, COP26 in Glasgow, it reaffirmed the long-term global target under the Convention and the temperature limitation target under the Paris Agreement and acknowledged that action is needed urgently needed to keep the global temperature increase below 1.5°C.
The goal of COP27 was to move from planning to action to decide on bold global steps to mitigate climate change.
