A US Department of Defense (Pentagon) spokeswoman said on Thursday that the United States disputes the validity of reports that Iran has developed hypersonic missiles (five times faster than sound).
Last week, the semi-official Tasnim news agency quoted the commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Aerospace Force as saying that Iran had succeeded in making a “hypersonic” ballistic missile.
“We have seen reports confirming this exit from Iran and remain skeptical of those reports,” Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said at a news conference.
These missiles can fly at least five times the speed of sound and in a complex trajectory, making them difficult to intercept.
