A firmware update has been released for the “SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary (Sony E mount)” zoom lens that I use with my α7IV (ILCE-7M4), so I updated it immediately. This update will be “Ver.03”, but I didn’t know that “Ver.02” was released, so it quickly became “Ver.03”.
BTW, I use a Mac as my main machine, but the software used to update the firmware didn’t work well, so I used the Windows sub-machine for the update.
Update content
Ver.02
Fixed a bug that rarely caused blurring when using the in-body image stabilization feature while using a gimbal.
The focus distance displayed on the screen during manual focus shooting has been optimized.
Ver.03
Added support for AF assist function when shooting movies.
*Limited to models with AF assist function.
I updated the lens, so when I checked if the camera was ok, I found that the α7IV (ILCE-7M4) had also been updated to “Ver. 1.11”. If there is α7IV user uploading SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN firmware, I recommend to update the camera first.
Update content
ver. 1.11
Improved reliability of shutter travel.
Improved the phenomenon where the movie file rotated by the camera may not be rotated on the computer.
With this, both the camera and lens have been updated to the latest firmware, so you can use them with confidence. Well then! Also!
