KOMPAS. com – Qualcomm recently officially announced the chipset Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This chip is the company’s new product to support the performance of high-class smartphones (flagship).
In the announcement of the new chip, Qualcomm says that a number of companies will adopt the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 on their phones including iQoo, Motorola, OnePlus, Xiaomi and other.
Founder and CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun already confirmed flagship Xiaomi will be “dominated” by the latest chip from Qualcomm. In fact, Lei Jun also boasted that the Xiaomi smartphone would be the first mobile phone to adopt Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Lei Jun communicated it through his personal account on the Chinese social network Weibo.
“Xiaomi’s new flagship will be the first to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Here it is Software And hardware coordinating to create reliable performance and experience,” said Lei Jun, quoted KompasTekno from Weibo through Gizchina.

The Xiaomi executive did not specify which series of phones would be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. However, there are strong suspicions that the mobile in question is Xiaomi 13the successor to the Xiaomi 12 that the company released last December.
Similar to Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 13 is also believed to be released later this year.
Previously circulating rumors claimed that the Xiaomi 13 is believed to be using Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This rumor surfaced even before the official release of the chipset.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 itself was launched with a new 1+2+2+3 architecture. With this model, this chip has 8 CPU cores (cores), including one Cortex-X3 core with a clock speed of 3.2GHz, four Cortex-A715 cores at 2.8GHz, and three Cortex-A510 cores at clock speed 2.0GHz.
The Xiaomi 13 is believed to be released in two models, including a “regular” model and a Pro model. Xiaomi 13Pro itself will be the higher model with more qualified specification support than the normal model.
This phone, according to leaks from informant (specifically leaker gizmo) Yogesh Brar, RAM will be supported from 8GB to 12GB and storage up to 512GB.
Xiaomi 13 Pro is said to have three rear cameras. All three have the same resolution, 50MP each consisting of the main, ultrawide and telephoto cameras. However, the sensor used in each camera is different.
The main camera sensor is called the same as the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, namely the 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro is said to have a front facing camera with a resolution of 32MP. This phone will also reportedly come with color settings resulting from Xiaomi’s collaboration with the popular lens maker, Leica.

Apart from that, Xiaomi 13 Pro will also be powered by Surge C2 imaging chip. Another leak is that the Xiaomi 13 Pro will be backed by a 4,800mAh battery accompanied by 120W fast charging support. While the operating system is supported by Android 13 and MIUI 14 interface.
Xiaomi itself has not leaked the design or specifications of Xiaomi 13. Hence, the certainty of the specifications will be known when Xiaomi 13 is officially released by the company.
