Would you ever believe it if someone told you that one of the coins from the old Lire it can be worth €25,000? It is precisely the specimen of which we talk to you today: the 10 lire Vittorio Emanuele II; better known as 10 Lire King Elected 1860. This time, unfortunately, it is a decidedly coin more ancient but that doesn’t mean you don’t have it among your grandfather’s collection, uncle or relative with this passion. In fact, there are many people who over the years have decided to start their own coin collection on the Lira; this, in fact, is one of the currencies most loved by Italians and will always remain the best for those who have lived it fully.
10 Lire King Elected 1860
Let’s start by saying one of the most important things: this coin it is golden and was minted at Mint of Bologna in 1860. Weighs only 3 grams and has a diameter of almost 2cmthe composition, is 900% gold. But let’s see the description: on the obverse is the profile of King Victor Emmanuel II facing left with the inscription around it VITTORIO EMANUELE II which is divided into two parts; in front of the face the first part, behind the neck the second. Immediately under the neckthe corresponding DB is found to the initials of the engraverDonnino Bentelli. Still further down, finally, near the edge of the coin, the thousandth of minting 1860 is found.
On the back on the coin, on the other hand, there is the writing on two lines LIRE 10 framed by two laurel branches held together by a bow on the bottom. In the part under the bow, is found the letter B to indicate the Mint of Bologna while all around the coin, in a semicircle at the top, there is the inscription ROYAL PROVINCES OF EMILIA.
The value of this currency, as we said before, it is truly amazing and, clearly, again this depends on the very small circulation. Think that only 1145 specimens of this coin were minted and that in uncirculated conditioneasily reaches the price of €25,000. Versions too less newHowever, they boast some great prices ranging from 4.000 to 10.000€; so even if she’s not in tip-top shape, she definitely has a great value.
