A day that ended with encouraging ideas according to Camille Arambarri, PSAEI secretary (Specialised personnel and carers for inclusive schools) of the teachers’ union Unsa 64. From a purely accounting point of view, the number of carers of students with disabilities (AESH ) is increased by 20% between 2017 and 2022. In France, the number of AESH thus increased from 80,000 to 132,000 for 1,058 specialized workers in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.
However, the need for support still exists at all ages. “The aim would be to allow all students who need it to be able to apply to the Departmental House of Disability and for quality training to be more easily accessible for staff. Personnel to be employed also in leisure facilities, holiday centres, etc.”, underlines Camille Arambarri.
