Ambassador Nader Saad, spokesman for the Council of Ministers, has launched an appeal to citizens to denounce rice monopolists in all governorates, to protect themselves from the disappearance of the commodity.
Saad confirmed in televised statements that the Egyptian state has been producing large quantities of rice and that there is no justification for a rice crisis.
And he continued: The spokesman of the Council of Ministers: The Ministry of supply must be informed of the quantities available to rice traders, and the Egyptian state has intervened immediately to address the monopolists, holders and suppliers of rice.
The Council of Ministers had announced that, as part of the monitoring of the local market and of the prices of goods and food products, and of what was monitored on some practices which involved the exclusion from circulation of the “rice” goods through concealment, or not to put it up for sale or refrain from selling it, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft important decision. The Cabinet of Ministers concerning the consideration of the commodity “rice” as one of the strategic products in application of the provision of Article (8) of the Consumer Protection Law promulgated by Law no. 181 of 2018, and it is forbidden to suspend it from circulation, either by hiding it, or by not offering it for sale, or by refraining from selling it or in any other way.
